Language Learning Methods
Im deeply interested in different ways to learn languages efficiently. The goal is to be able to communicate and interact with the target language's culture. I believe there are huge differences in productivity in terms of using different methods. The "method" im currenly using for learning Italian is based on the idea that the brain learns extremely well with input if its the correct difficulty. In the process of learning italian I focus on 2 different aspects. 1. to build up vocabulary 2. listen to input in correct difficulty ( where you understand the main concepts, but not all words). In practice a study session can look like: Starting out, you use any textbook, website app or method to learn some vocabulary efficiently ( would not recommend duolingo). For example 10-30 words per day. Starting with the most common words. I came accross a video mentioning the tower method which i dont think is well know, anyhow, it emphasised the difference between word classes. some words are easier to understand from context, especially subjectives ( a car, a house) therefor the method states its not a priority to learn. More importantly, words such as "every", "never", "and", "because" should be prioritized. For the input, Listen/Watch the content you find most interesting ( with subtitles in target languages if needed) and find the correct difficulty for you. It should be fun to listen, but some words should not be in your vocabulary. Obviously at the very start it might be hard to find anything you understand, but then youll might need to watch toddlers videos.... Testing this method now with italian, will come with updates on how it goes. And im curious about what methods other have, dont heistate to contact me for a chat.
